Load testing validates equipment performance in real-world conditions. At Maximum Material Handling (MMH), we conduct strictly controlled dynamic load tests to verify that your equipment meets rigorous safety regulations and operational demands.

Whether you need testing for a brand-new installation or require expert commissioning for your field equipment, our comprehensive testing ensures full compliance and long-term peace of mind.

The MMH Load Testing Advantage

MMH can go well beyond basic static load testing. We utilize an advanced dynamic hydraulic load test machine capable of testing equipment with capacities up to 20,000 pounds. Our comprehensive testing process includes:

Verification of Rated Capacity

We can dynamically test equipment through an entire lift cycle, under a wide range of capacities, and by applying static and dynamic loads of 1% thru 125% of rated capacity. This enables us to confirm the equipment can properly negotiate any load within its capacity range.

Stress Evaluation

We can physically observe mechanical load and electro/mechanical brake operation as well as overload clutch performance under real world conditions. We can run electrical hoists continuously in order to measure voltage input, voltage drop, amp draw, and temperature range under commonly found field conditions.

Compliance Assurance

We ensure your equipment meets all OSHA, ASME, and CMAA standards, preventing costly job site work stoppages.

Turnkey On-Site Testing & Installation

For new installations, MMH offers a seamless, turnkey solution. Using the same expert team for both installation and load testing saves you the hassle and cost of coordinating with third-party testing firms. We have an inventory of test weights to handle systems up to 10-tons and can readily provide additional weights to meet larger capacity systems.

Standalone Testing for Fleet Maintenance

We also offer standalone load testing for fleet maintenance companies and contractors who require their field equipment to pass strict job site safety audits. If the equipment is visually sound and passes our dynamic test, we will tag it and send it right back out the door, ready to meet the toughest demands of any job site.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

When is hoist load testing mandatory?

Under 2022 OSHA and CMAA regulations, load tests are legally mandated for all brand-new hoist installations and for equipment that has undergone a fully defined rebuild.

What documentation is provided after a successful load test?

Upon a passing test, MMH physically attaches a heavy-duty, weather-resistant inspection tag to the equipment detailing the equipment ID, specifications, load test date, and confirmation of passing. We also provide official paper certificates stating the equipment passed in accordance with ASME standards.

Do you provide detailed test reports for shop repairs?

Yes. For shop repairs, we email detailed certificates directly to the customer for their safety audit records, explicitly showing the test results at the 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%, and 125% load increments.

Do I need to rent test weights for my new crane installation?

No. If MMH is installing your crane, we provide our own locking test weights as an integrated, cost-effective option, handling all transportation and on-site staging with our own equipment.
